ABOUT

Sengokuhara, with an easy access to Hakone landmarks such as art museums and Susuki Grass Fields, is the home of Hakone Retreat före. Its simple modern architecture, when combined with soft sunlight through large windows, truly becomes one with the natural beauty of the surrounding forest, reminding of resorts in Northern Europe.
The Swedish word “före” means “forward”, and represents the brand-new resort experience that Hakone Retreat före offers, without being bound by traditional concepts or categories of the hotel industry.
Join us in our stylish world of “small gathering” relaxation with your loved ones. Activities include visits to art museums on rental bikes, get-togethers accompanied by wines and meals straight from our wood-fired oven, and afternoon tea time with freshly baked wild-yeast breads and high-grade coffee from our cafe & bakery.
